The Founding Fathers

To try to solve this problem, each of the colonies were asked to send representatives (called delegates) to meet in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1787. This group of men, many of whom were leaders in the colonies during the War years, met together to decide how to organize the new government. These men are often called the “Founding Fathers” because they established or “FOUNDED” the new country. Do you recognize the names Ben Franklin, George Washington and James Madison? They were just a few of our Founding Fathers.
