Overview: Students are introduced to the structure of chromosomes and genes as these concepts are illustrated utilizing articles of clothing as a model of a chromosome. Students demonstrate genotypes, phenotypes, and genetic crossings using colored socks and shirts. This lesson provides an introduction and basis for understanding punnett squares.

Standards: California Content standards 2b, 2d, 2e
