Author Information:

I have been a teacher for the Contra Costa County Office for the last 25 years. I currently teach severely handicapped students between the ages of 14 to 18 at the Liberty High School in Brentwood.
I have a M.S in Education from the California State University Hayward. I also earned my Multiple subjects , Learning handicapped and Severely handicapped teaching credentials CSU Hayward.
As a part of our Science curriculum our students study in depth the marine life found in the Monterey Bay. On the culmination of the unit we take an overnight trip to Monterey to visit the aquarium and see the sea life close-up. The next day we visit the Pacific Grove tide pools at low tide to search for tide pool animals. I have been teaching this unit to my students for the last seven years.
