Skills & the School Lunch Program

Students that work in
the cafeteria will learn many transferable life skills that
are needed in today's workforce. It will provide them with their
first work experience, working for an employer to provide customer
service. The following are some of the skills that will be earned
and rewards for working in the cafeteria. |

- Following directions given by an employer
- Learning how to serve customers and work with
coworkers
- Learning safety, sanitation and health regulations
- Being on time
- Performing specified duties in an allotted
time frame
- Food preparation
The eighth grade workers will be trained on the
computer registers if they want to continue as a cafeteria worker in
high school. They will also receive a job recommendation. They will
also learn how to count change back correctly. Cafeteria workers in
high school get paid and keep their time sheets. Students must keep
up with their class work!

- Daily meal from the cafeteria
- Friday treats paid for by the manager

- Get out of class ten minutes early---They like that!
