Holding a Door Open
Objective: The student follow the rules of courtesy when passing through a doorway.

The Lesson:

• Identify Need
• Introductory Activity: Brainstorm - In what places would you might enter a door at the same time as someone else.
• Define Steps and Sequences of Skill
1. In general, you hold the door open for the next person.
2. To be polite, women and children are allowed to go first..or anyone your respect.
3. Use the expressions "after you" or "please go ahead." Hold the door open and stand back.
4. Say "you're welcome, when the person thanks you.
5. Now you may enter.
