Objective: The student will have a conversation with others, talking
appropriate turns and following the rules of this form of communication.
Language Arts Standard: Listening and Speaking
1. Evaluate the situation. Is this a good time and place for your
interaction?
2. Evaluate the speaker. Read his or her body language. Interpret
his or her facial expression.
3. Make eye contact with the person throughout the conversation.
4. Stand about an arm’s length away from others.
5. Take turns listening and speaking.
6. Saying “okay” holds your place in the conversation.
7. Say a greeting as you end the conversation.
