Sample Lesson Plans

The following pages will contain several sample lesson plans that are more elaborate than the steps you will see defined on the lists of social skills. Teachers are encouraged to individualize their lessons to the needs, accommodations and modifications of their specific classes. The first example involves the direct teaching of the skill.

SAMPLE ONE: Making an Appointment

Special Education Language Objectives:
• By this time next year student will demonstrate an understanding of uses of different language forms with peers, teachers and employers as measured by a teacher made test.
• By this time next year student will use adequate breath support to be audible to his classmates and teacher during a classroom activity. Language Arts Standards 8th Grade

Language Arts Standards:
• Oral English Language Conventions: 1.1 Students wil1 use simple, compound and compound complex sentences with effective coordination and subordination of ideals to express complete thoughts
• Listening and Speaking Strategies: 1.2 Students will paraphrase a speaker’s purpose and ask relevant questions concerning the speaker’s content, delivery and purpose.
