Parent Involvement in the School Program

Parent involvement in the educational process is critical at the middle school level. The transition from elementary school to the middle grades would be difficult without the inclusion of the support of the student's parent and family.

At our school parents are invited to a nighttime orientation while their students are still in our feeder elementary schools.

El Dorado has an active Parent-Faculty Club that sponsors many school activities throughout the academic year. Parents have input into the development of school policies.

Parents are invited to volunteer in many capacities, such as campus noon supervisors, dance chaperones and evening socials.

The school newsletter is one way that parents stay informed about upcoming events. Teachers also communicate with parents via the school's voicemail system. Our school maintains a web site where lesson plans are posted regularly. Every staff member has email with access to the Internet on the teachers' desks in their classrooms.

A parent's check for student placement in a middle school with regards to the staff's awareness of the importance of teaching social skills.
