Relationships Between the School Library, Language Arts and Instruction of Social Skills
Our library is a treasured resource for our language arts teachers. The books and materials support extension activities from the classroom. Extension activities from the text book stories can involve assignments utilizing related literature in the library. The 300 and 600 sections have many volumes on subjects related to social skills. The teaching staff at the school should know that the school library is often a place where students go to find answers to their questions about social issues affecting their lives. Librarians have a unique pulse on the mental health of a school, because they know which books have been of most interest to the students.
