People
around the world do things in different ways. The way people
greet one another is a good example of cultural diversity.
Greetings are Different throughout the World
A. Sample Cultural Areas of the World
Using a map of the globe designate areas. Students can have
their own copy of a map and identify the regions after the instructor
presents.
B. Identify Western, Middle Eastern and Eastern Regions
C. Model the different styles
Eastern: bow, Middle Eastern: Embrace, Western: Hand
Have the students participate in taking turns
doing different greetings. It's a simple example of how people
around the world do the same thing in different ways.
