The Lesson:

• Identify Need
• Introductory Activity: When might you given directions on the job?
• Define Steps and Sequences of Skill
1. Make eye contact with the person.
2. Look for written directions that may add to the request.
3. Just say “okay.” Nod your head to indicate compliance.
4. Smile or appear pleasant...even if you feel differently.
5. Ask questions if you don’t understand. Ask for steps, if you need the task broken down.
6. You may restate the directions to be sure of the request.
7. Do the task as soon as possible.
8. Check back with the person when you have finished.
9. Thank the teacher if she took extra time to clarify the directions.
